Silver Polishing Cloth
Using our silver polishing cloth to clean silver sterling products.
Toothpaste
Take a pea sized amount of toothpaste on a dish and rub into the silver using a dish washing sponge. Rinse in warm water.
Laundry Detergent
Pour one small cup of detergent into a bowl of hot water and place the silver jewelry inside. Leave for 5 minutes, remove and rub with a soft cloth.
Mild Bar Soap
The most effective way to clean sterling silver is with warm water and mild bar soap. (Liquid soap is likely to leave a film on your jewelry, resulting in a dull finish.)
It is optimal to remove jewelry during the following times:
- Household chores, such as dishes, laundry, and when using cleaning supplies
- When exercising, at the gym, or playing contact sports
- When showering or bathing
- Swimming, hot tubs, or saunas
- Very hot places (such as when lying out at the beach or pool)
- When getting ready (i.e: putting on lotion, makeup, hair products)
- Preparing, cooking, or eating foods that contain sulfur (this includes eggs and mayonnaise).
- Outside chores or tasks, such as gardening
Gold-plated jewellery is the hot new trend in the fashion industry. Many popular fashionistas are styling with gold-plated jewelry nowadays. Gold-plated jewelry is classy and beautiful yet affordable, compared with solid gold jewelry.
Here are easy ways to keep the shine of your gold-plated jewelry. As it is a thin layer of gold, extra care should be taken to maximize its lifespan.
- Be aware of direct contact with chemicals such as chlorine in swimming pools, makeup products, body lotion, or hair spray. Do not spray on perfume or other sprays while wearing your gold-plated jewelry. You can spray your perfume 5 minutes before putting on your jewelry or let the lotion or perfume dry before putting on your jewelry.
- Storing your jewelry is one of the most important steps. Always store it in an airtight bag / box / cloth pouch. Be sure to place it in an area with low humidity. Putting each piece separately will also prevent them from scratching.
- Be sure to remove your jewelry when working with certain chemicals or foods. This is especially so for oily or strong-smelling foods such as Coconut Milk / Oil, Mustard, Egg, Onion, Garlic, etc.
- Clean your gold-plated jewelry with warm, soapy water. Soak it for a few minutes and you may clean it with a soft brush. Stay away from jewelry cleaners and antibacterial soaps which may have certain components that will just make your gold-plated jewelry tarnish more quickly.
- Avoid rubbing too hard on engraved sections, and be sure to use a special non-abrasive cloth to avoid scratching while polishing.
